Alert: Using credit card to book on Emirates.com

I was looking to book tickets on Emirates when I ran into this disclaimer below.

Apparently, you can't book tickets for others on Emirates!

"Important Information: If payment is made online by credit card, Emirates holds the right to verify that the same credit card used for the transaction is presented at the time of check-in and the credit card holder must be one of the travellers on the itinerary. Failure to present the credit card will mean that all passengers in the booking will be denied boarding. Please note that virtual credit cards should not be used to purchase tickets online."

You can use another persons credit card ,if you can fax a copy to the ticketing agency of theirs which is located in NY or CA.

Emirates needs the complete credit card number to print the boarding pass during check-in. We had a problem during check-in last time in Bangalore airport since we did not have the physical card with us. However, we could get the boarding passes issued by giving the complete credit card number.

I ran into same issue when I was trying to book tickets for my family some time back. I contacted customer support and they responded as below:
My Question: Can I purchase tickets online for my family using my credit card, I am not going to travel with them. Thanks.
Response:

Dear Mr xxxx

In general, you may use your credit card to pay for your family's tickets to most destinations. Please call us at 800 777 3999 at any time for a specific answer.

I went ahead and booked tickets for my family and absolutely there was no issue at all. This happened in 2009.

I always book my daughter's travel from India and back using my credit card. Some times (more often nowadays) they ask for a copy of the credit card to be shown during check in. I give her a copy (both sides) with csv number blacked out and there has never been any problem in her travelling.
