Return to India by 2012 mid

Hello friends,
This is my first post here. What a lovely site to get and share information.
We are a family of three ( myself,wife and daughter who will be 5 next year).
We are considering a move by mid next year. What are the factors I need to consider before I make this plunge. I am a house owner here, plan to put the house in the market soon. I plan to start looking for jobs in India in another 6 months. Once I have an offer I will consider moving so that there is security. At a later phase want to start my own business in India.
Also we are USC. Any advice will be helpful in this regard.

Welcome and best wishes. As you may have already seen from posts here, selling a house seems to be the more difficult than all other issues. The real estate agent can tell you how fast (on the average) the house sells in your area. If you are able to take care of that, the rest will be just a cake walk, falling off a log, or is it slipping on a banana peel.

Sell the house first, move to an apartment and then start making your plans. The house is a major liability,

This is my current plan Iam executing ...
Right now i put my house on sale in sept-2010 and process is at the last phase of lender approval(Short sale) and I moved my things out in container last week and planning to send my family next week to india
In my case Iam doing partial R2I by sending my family(wife+kids) and then later I will follow them after settling house,money etc and find time to search for jobs in india seriously

One good thing is with approaching Spring there are more ppl out looking for houses for move(also there are more houses being put on sale with competitive prices)

The only pain I had was since I had put my house on sale and I was packing side by side , we had to always stay alert and keep house in order for next day showing :-(
