Former Goldman Sachs Board Member Rajat Gupta Charged By SEC With ...

Sometime back Hedge Fund Owner/Manager/founder Rajaratnam was charged with inside trading and arrested by FBI.

Well, his inside information came from Rajat Gupta among probably others. Rajat Gupta has been charged with a variety of charges of passing on inside information. In some cases within minutes of conclusion of board meeting, information was passed and within minutes, stock market executions made making millions for Rajaratnam fund in which Rajat Gupta had parked money.

$900K benefit was only due to one tip. There is another tip where the benefit was 3 million and another where it was much more. Information is still coming out. SEC released news this morning.

It raises serious questions on his integrity from his previous jobs. To think that he was a MD at McKinsey and had so much inormation at his disposal or was he caught the first time he did this?

Strategically speaking I really question if Mr Gupta understood 2 cents about strategy consulting? (assuming he did do this fraud). What's the strategy in risking millions of net worth, respect, reputation etc for a few extra bucks? Go figure

With republican Chris Cox be head of SEC which never believed in regulation and let industry monitor themselves to a death spiral, he thought strategically this is the new normal.
