Came across a macbook pro pc on ebay, the buyer wants to sell by paying thru paypal direct not thru ebay. would you consider this a scam ?

What are your concerns? Is it about the product, or is it about using Paypal? I could not see a link in your post. What is the seller's rating? If all else fails, eBay offers buyer protection. Full refund if the product did not match description.
I have bought and sold automobiles, photography gear, and sports equipment on eBay. Always using paypal. (Cash for automobile transactions). eBay rocks!

this is what I am talking about, the fact of the matter is the seller wants me to buy bypassing ebay, and pay direct to the seller. Without the leverage the ebay has, it is not a good deal.

I would steer clear of this deal..if you don't go through ebay, ebay buyer protection will not 'protect' you..i have been a powerseller in ebay and please use your money on genuine ebay transactions..my 2 cents.

definitely would be scary, I suggested the seller to open up a buy it now and pay that way thru paypal, it was declined. which fool will fall into this trap ?:))

Seems like a scam. Of the 9 transactions with positive feedback, most of them are purchases. The one thing he has sold, it is to some new ebayer with < 4 transactions.
Could he be trying to sell via message to avoid the 9% ebay fee? That would be foolish of anyone to buy this way.
