R2I for non-IT engineers

Post by Aus2India »

I have been contemplating a move for way too long and its great to have an informative resource such as this forum to hear first hand experiences-kudos to the good work by admin and members .

During our frequent visits over past 10 years to India we have noted a steady and sometimes steep rise in cost of living and significant improvement in renumeration/working conditions within the IT field, however I am unsure about other engineering professions.

Would love to hear of experiences of non-IT engineers (chem, mech, instrumentation, elec etc.) moving back to India and the challenges/perks/joys in the current Indian market.

Currently in Australia (particularly NSW) I find the engineering market off the boil and there is a lack of challenging work in my area of expertise, however the work conditions/salaries are very good. India beinf a much larger market attracting a lot of out sourced projects seems to be the right place to be.

R2I for non-IT engineers

Hello:

I am in the same boat. I am into manufacting. Most of my friends have been moved ot IT and remaining ones are settling in USA for ever. So I do not have much network in India. From what I see salary for non-IT person as still low and jobs are demanding. There are now 2 sectors whthin MECH engineering (just like IT). One is service based and the other is product engineering based. Service base job cater to globle demands for "advance and design engineering" as well as simulation, modeling and things like stress analysis. Product based is where FDI conpanies are making things in India in their wholly owned subsidiary.
