The thread on the computer privacy of kids reminded me of another privacy - that of adults.
As kids grow into their teen years, how do parents get their privacy? Not just for ding-dong or other expressions of spousal affection, but even to finish one conversation in peace without worrying how it will effect the young ears.
Thoughts? Tricks? Tips? Stories? :)

Dont fret. There is no way you can project a put-up job to your own kids. They already got the code (DNA).
For displays of affection, use judgement of what you wouldn't like your guests to do/display in your house party. Kiss OK, but apply one-mississippi-two rule for length of lip contact to lip or cheek, and keep your tongue to yourself. Sit to show affection but do not share body mass. Use forum CoC in conversation when kids are in elementary or below and in earshot.
When kids are in highschool, they have heard it all. But continue forum CoC at home in your conversations. When kids are really adults (you pour dinner wine into their glasses kind of grownups ) then, they will use forum CoC in your presence. And they might even consider contrived usage of expletives to be frivolous, and only allowed in Jon Stewart. :) This happens when you watch Jon Stewart with your children. They would laugh without holding back, but would never swear until they can be as good as Stewart. Not very likely in their lifetime !!

I was, but not the way you put it. I have found that most kids after about 10 years age are constantly listening to their ipods, and it's a challenge to get them to listen to what the parents are saying. This reminded me of that scene in the movie, "Little Miss Sunshine". Usually, when we are in the car, we have to ask our daughter to take the headphones off, when we have to talk to her.

We can talk in different language that kids does not know like Hindi. Or we should set sometime in the weekend for the discussions in a room closing the doors and let the kids watch movie etc. Kids really don't bother to listen what their parents are talking !
You can send kids to kids night's out whiech is generally couple of hours in the friday evenings or you can send kids to babysitter and spend time with each other. That ofcourse personally i never did it.

Pretty simple! Have inlaws at home. Privacy from kids will be the last concern after that. :)

Since i have 3 kids, and all of them have their own computers, I am really paranoid whenever they surf the web. Paranoia is hitting me because yesterday, I found my information here and I totally freaked out because all my contact details were there.I am scared that site like this can invade not just my kids but the entire family privacy. I don't know why my details got in there. I am guessing it's because my children were buying stuff online. I am not sure. Is there some kind of a software that will track or limit their activities such as email and social media activities. By the way they are all teenagers and 13 is the eldest.
Everything can be accessed online nowadays. I don't want to take away the freedom of letting them use the internet but if someone here can help me, that will be much appreciated.

how many of these did you find ?
how are 13 & < able to buy online ? Do they have your credit card information ?
