One of the main things I missed when I moved to India few months back was Groupon. As I searched online, I was thrilled to find few equivalent websites! So, I wanted to share few reliable Indian websites that mirror the ones in the US

What is similar to Groupon in India?
A lot! Try dealivore, mydata and snapdeal. Sosasta was bought by Groupon and it is pretty good as well.

But there is nothing like gilt and ideeli - getting big discounts on designer wear.
Wrong! The Indian equivalent of 99labels and exclusivity have had some amazing sales recently given the festive season.

Cool, but all this online shopping and no points for it?
Wrong again! payback.in offers points for click through to select merchant websites. iMint was bought by payback recently and your imint points can be transferred to payback.

On a slightly unrelated topic, the Bangalore RTO has a SMS number that can give you the details of any license-plate:

To search for owner information on a vehicle using the vehicle number, please sms RTO followed by the vehicle number with each set of letters/numbers separated by a hyphen to 56006. You will get a return sms with all data including owner's name, type of vehicle, engine number, chassis number etc.

Very useful particularly in hit and run cases.

For example sms to 56006.

The information comes from RTO directly back to you. Database is updated for all RTO offices in Bangalore area.
