Remote working from India while on H1B

All,

I'm a remote worker in for a US company with office in India. I've been long thinking to R2I due to family reasons and finally mustered up to discuss with my current mgmt. They asked me couldn't you work from India while you are on H1b ? My first reaction was yes, but not sure what consequences would that have i.e taxation, legal etc. One advantage I see is I could potentially be paid a us salary, and travel when required. Other than that I'm not able to think of any advantages.

I would greatly appreciate if could shed light and guide me through this. Many thanks.

I did something like that last year, where I was on H1B but working in India for few months.
Due to India taxation laws, you or your company will have to pay tax in India on your income. Make sure you discuss with the tax experts and search this forum for information, before you decide anything.
