R2I Confusion

I am an engineer and planning to R2I in Jan 2013 to a totally different area of work(management in education industry). I have a good offer of 45L+ CTC in Delhi region from Education Instituion for Director level position. Offer sounds good to me but will like to know from people who have made the move. Also I will get my GC by end of year. So any comments about Tax liabilities after getting my GC? And how can I maintain my GC status while in india.
I am married and have no kids as of now. Biggest reason for move is family/friends and plus the offer sounds good to me, so I can have similar ease of life as in US.

Inputs will be appreciated.

For successful R2I, burn all the bridges.

It is difficult to maintain GC from India. You may have to travel every 6 months beside tax liabilities.

Offer sounds too good to be true !!! Well the private players in education industry are not very reliable. That's my 2 cents worth of advice.

The offer is good. You do get some tax exemptions it is not bad. If you want to maintain GC, i would say apply for re-entry permit and you get to stay out for atleast 2 years. You can then decide if you want to renew it for another 2 years or give up your GC. Ofcourse there is a price to pay to keep GC and ties onto USA - US taxation of your income above the threshold.

The salary offered to you is very good. Rest depends on how you settle down once you are here. It is frustrating at times and other times it is too much fun. Nothing different than your experience in USA. But it is different kinds of frustrations and different kinda fun. So take time once you are back and decide if this is for you.

thanks a lot....i agree there will be lot of frustrations and fun, though different kind....though I have no intentions of going back to US after R2i and would agree then I should burn all my bridges....
so i guess the threshold for taxation is $95000 for single income and $160K for double income.......is that correct?

I hope you do enough research before you come back. I came back in April in bangalore and will be returning back to usa due to frustration. I love all the culture , food and people but hate the system, infrastructure & environment. This place has put me and family into depression. I came back after 10 years staying in USA. I know 45L is an attractive package but i dont think that will make my mind change.

Thanks for giving your input. I would like to more details about your R2I(meaning where you originally from in India, do you have family around bangalore(as family is always major reason for successful R2I), what kind of frustrations lead to decide to R2A and any other information which will help us to decide)...ofcourse a good package is not enough but does help to overcome some of the R2I issues(I believe)...thanks
