Whats wrong with Life In India.

gotskiz;550891That never occurred to me. Indeed a revelation.
Btw: just curious - how many years since you R2Ied ?

Sarcasm aside, many Indian expatriates do not take the time to do proper tourism in India during their vacations or after R2I. During vacations they are too busy with relatives, weddings etc. and think that there isn't much to see in India anyway beyond religious places and that if there is anything it would be too much hassle, crowded, dirty etc. After R2I I find that most folks actually start a job almost at once and then they get busy with work, family, commute, adjustment etc. Most R2i folks I have known didn't even take a few months break to settle in after moving to India and started their jobs within a week or so after arrival, sometimes even sooner.

As for myself, I have completed 1 year and 4 months of R2I so far. All a vacation of course as I am not working after R2I!

India is always like it was. After people move out from India and after several years living outside, we start to compare each and everything with India and other country we live in. Hence it changes things and the way we look at it.

Once we move out of India we are actually exposed to the entire world out there and it is then that we realize what "quality of life" and "opportunity" actually mean. You won't know what you are missing out on unless you actually experience it. Therefore when we get back to India we realize it is no where in comparison to say, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany. etc. Of course it is developing but only slowly and people are running out of patience and tolerance. They'd rather live abroad in a first world country and give their children first-class exposure to a global, multicultural environment and society rather than subject them to the Indian education system. Of course there are a lot of people who find incredible opportunities to prosper in India. I would say it is all a personal choice and whether someone chooses to live in India or abroad we should not judge him/her. Everyone is entitled to live their life the way they want as long as they are not hurting anyone or violating any law.

Given a choice about 80% of people would migrate to a developed country.... there lies the answer.

Seems like it is very difficult to make a country better but it’s easy to ruin an already ok country. Even China for all its progress is still a crappy place to live for most people.

Humans are not smart enough to make a country good collectively, if anyplace is doing well it’s just by accident and inspite of human stupidity getting in the way.

So until the developed countries get ruined, for now they are the best place to raise next generation.

For sure, ruining is already in place. I remember 2 decades ago, in US - some things were unheard of like - honking, changing lanes without indicators, intolerance..... few weeks ago was in NY/long island - absolutely crazy traffic. Immediately reminded India (not ditto, though).

History has clearly shown - wherever homo sapiens set their foot, extinction, destroying of nature -- all happens. Spix macaw (the famour Rio movie blue bird) is in extinction in the wild. Only 80 are surviving in captivity.

We still don't know how and why to live.

Does future of children also our choice?

As in there is a 10% more chance their lung capacity may not be good due to high pollution.

Whats wrong with Life In India.

When I used to live in Bangalore until 2008, I distinctly remember, my daily temper levels used to be much higher. I used to be angry with the traffic, angry with customer service, just angry in general and rarely used to smile looking at people. After living overseas, I am so used to be generally content and smile when I look at people.

I am afraid going back to India and I am going to become one of the angry non smiling faces again. I wish Indians could be happier.

While it's true, I do not feel sense of belonging in US and feels disconnected with society.
