Hello
I am also thinking of moving back to Pune soon.I would really like to ask you a few questions about the move/kids adjustment/selection of schools. Can you share your email if possible?

techynt;649318I am hoping that in 100 years English will be the only language left on earth. Not because its a good language, it sucks compared to Indian languages like Sanskrit, Kannada, Hindi etc..

But because its now the defacto international language and will continue to grow due to it becoming official universal language in India also.

Thank God, govt did not listen to you :)

Foreign languages not to be part of 3-language formula in schools

karode;573646Guys with due respect keep the regional and linguistic chauvinism out of this thread...

Here we are trying to see how a young kid who has come to India as part of his/her parents plans can adjust to a culture foreign to him/her.

Thanks in advance.

We moved few years back, when my son was in second grade. He had difficulty fitting in with the crowd, mostly because of the mannerisms, Indian boys are more rough, way of speech is different etc. First six months was tough at school, later he adjusted kind of ok. We r2aed and r2ied again, this time with lesser adjustment problems. Now even after 3 years here he doesn't speak local language, but has lots of friends who speaks local language. He understands perfectly well but responds in English which no one seems to have a problem with. It is actually quite funny sometimes to hear his friends talking to him and his responses.

So..don't worry, kids will adjust. But sometimes having a similar kind of crowd around them will help them proceed from adjustment to getting more comfortable. As a parent you can help by finding them a comfort zone - community with lots of kids where they can mingle well and get used to the language, more social outing etc. Good Luck!
