We would like to team up with families that have plans to R2I for 2016/2017 School Year to Bengaluru from Chicago. Idea is that working as a team and sharing research will help ease the transition.
Other Details:
Kids: Ages 6(boy) and 8(girl) now.
Primary Focus: Good Schools for Kids' easy transition.
Areas to live: At this point, closer to school (and preferably IT hubs).
Current City: Chicago.

Our plan is also to R2I to Bangalore in 2016 or might be even earlier. My daughter is 4 now.
The schools so far on my list are
1. Greenwood high
2. DPS
3. Brigade
4. Gopalan
I am trying to find schools in East Bangalore, since we have our house being constructed there. We are currently in Maryland. Let me know your thoughts on preparing for R2I.

Thanks mangogirl for the update. Looks like you have the plans set. Our plan is dependent on a few things like selling U.S home, finding admissions etc.
I have several schools under my radar since there is no location constraint at this point. But looking for schools closer to IT hubs since both parents will look for work there.
Here are my school preferences based on my research. I will update more information as I find.
Electronics City

http://www.npsinr.com/parents (NAFL - worked well for NRI kids with no Hindi)
http://www.greenwoodhigh.edu.in/contact-us.html (GreenWood High - Good reviews)

[h=3]Bannerghatta Road[/h]

Did you start corresponding with schools?

We moved to chennai when our kids were 8 and 4. They are loving school here and have not missed anything, friends included. You are coming back at a good time for your kids. Get plenty of books back for them to read and get ready to face delays, inefficiency and traumatic traffic! But you will get used to it as we did.

Hello,
We are planning to R2I in 2016 from NJ to Blore. Kids are 10 & 5 now, they'll be starting 7th and 2nd grades in Blore schools. We visited a few apartment communities and schools last year in Whitefield area to prepare for R2I. We have shortlisted Prestige Shantiniketan (PSN) as a community to stay and Inventure for kids school. But need to research further regarding schools, especially for my elder daughter.
Would be great to collaborate on our R2I journeys!

Rajgo2India - Can you share your experience about getting admission into Greenwood? When did you start the admission process and what kind of documents/interviews did you have to provide?

The admission processes already been started in all the schools. I took admission on November itself..I called them and I sent my friends to the school and also I enquired couple of know friends who are studying in their kids.. Finally I got the provisional admission and they were asking Birth certificate, Visa copy, last year NJ ask score and parents passports and passport photo copy and INR 80K Check.. They will conduct a test while we are India and they will give the admission confirmation until that provisional admission is confirm.

I posted a reply earlier and it never got through. Here it is again.
At this point Kids' schools is a priority since we plan to start there, look for jobs after that.
Some items I jotted down for what to look in schools (below).
What to look for?
1. 5 day school. Not sure how many schools have this.
2. 20ish kids per class?
3. CBSE syllabus.
4. Well-rounded curriculum. Most schools seem to be headed in this direction.
5. Second language. Spanish possibly. But plan to train kids in Hindi.
6. Prepare them for world. We foresee that our kids study/work abroad when they grow up.
7. Distance from home. This is not a concern at this point since we don't own a home. But around IT hubs.
8. Allows Parent Involvement. I'd love to be on Teacher-Parent boards. Hence!
9. Less culture shock for kids. But not in a position/intend to shell out a lot of money on international schools.
Anymore?
Here is my schools list:
Electronics City
Treamis
NAFL - worked well for NRI kids with no Hindi)
Greenwood High - Good reviews everywhere
Whitefield
WhiteField Global School
Bannerghatta Road
Samhita Academy
PSBB
When to start admission process
Roughly when do you start corresponding with schools? As mentioned earlier, we are looking at 2016. if not 2016, 2017 for sure.

Mangogirl,
Did you move back to Bangalore? Which school did you join kids to? Any suggestions on apartments or villas?
I'm planning to move back in 2019. So I have to finish admissions in next October 2018.
Thanks a lot
