Are men capable of fidelity ?

To be clear I am not asking this question. I had discussion with some colleagues recently. Both female, one Russian and one Colombian (if that's relevant) and they seemed to be of the firm opinion that men - in general no exceptions, are incapable of fidelity. That given the right circumstances, every man- again every single man will be unfaithful. According to them, it's in the male DNA to spread their genes.
I disagreed with them and said that I believe that men are absolutely capable of being faithful and that it's a way of giving men a pass for their behavior. I also said that culture may make some difference, but I don't know how much of a valid point this is, because afterall it's not like, some Indian men don't cheat. But they seemed to think that the world I describe to them, where people are monogamous for their whole lives, are virgins till they wed, etc is a utopian fantasy and doesn't exist anywhere, and I am a clueless na? person to believe in it.
Even though I think I held up my end of the discussion as best I could, I want to know what the astute members of this forum think on this subject.

IMO, it all depends on the situation of an individual, be it a man or a woman. If they are in a "happy place" in their lives - most aspects of it, the thought of being unfaithful to their spouse will not cross their minds. OTOH, if there's disharmony in relationships on varying degrees, then whoever it is, will not hesitate to seek comfort of an outlet when an opportunity presents itself. And this could be said for all human beings regardless of cultural origin.

At a basic level maybe all men are predisposed to infidelity but they have to learn to control their carnal desires and value higher emotions (morality, loyalty).

Any man who is not capable of fidelity does it with a woman. That woman may be married or unmarried. So for every infidle man there may be equal number of infidle women :)

The key is "given the right circumstances" or in other words, "if allowed", every man would probably take advantage of the circumstance, whereas every woman might not, in my opinion. Of course, even with right circumstance, if the woman is not something to speak about, the man may let the circumstance pass, unless he is desperate for action.

Under the right circumstances when man commits infidelity there has to be a woman for him to commit. So for every infidle man there is an infidle woman. Good logic??? Unless all infidle men go to the same woman.....
