Why men won't share as much as women even the info that could help others ?

Post by RBee »

Looking at posts in college admission/cost related discussions spread over two threads, I am left wondering on the openness exhibited by women members...Their willingness to share all the info is so much helpful to many whose kids are still not at college yet..

Not just this message board, majority of men usually do not volunteer to share info. that could be useful to others but OTOH majority of women usually share all the details..Exceptions exist in either spectrum but I am talking about majority..

Is it because of the privacy reasons even in anonymous boards or just the way each gender is wired ??

Tiger moms are more concerned about their kid's education?
Dads have no clue?

Why don't you look at the stock/finance threads? There are many gents providing input/advice and share their buys/sells.

Does it matter who shares their knowledge? Why does gender matter?

Don't be a wet blanket :). Plus why you thanked my post if you don't want the discussion to happen :) ?

Not just education, even in parties and other get-togethers, women usually share where their kids went to for swimming/basketball etc and usually share how one can bargain to get good deal etc.. If one gets a good dress, when the sale started etc..

I had completely contradicting experience. When we moved to another city, none of the Desi moms shared classes info. It was so hard for me to get info about math or reading classes info or summer camps. For every question, mostly their answer was, we don't push our kids and we want our kids to have fun. Their husbands' shared the classes info with my husband :)

Even in the parties, everybody tries to say, they hardly spend time on kids academics and kids always spend time in playing and watching TV. Still, they get high grades and they are in GT programs. Dads say kids and mom work really hard :)

Interesting..Thanks for giving a different take..May be east coast/Wash DC women folks are different than Bay Area Desi Moms ? Or my neighborhood might be different because moms are willing to share ?

I have an inkling that this thread will be used to surmise how stupid and illogical RBee is and how other 49 states' moms behave than to discuss thread's topic ..

sur·mise
verb
verb: surmise; 3rd person present: surmises; past tense: surmised; past participle: surmised; gerund or present participle: surmising
sərˈmīz/
1.
suppose that something is true without having evidence to confirm it.
"he surmised that something must be wrong"

In parties and get-togethers men usually share which restaurants have the best loo....eh most friendly waitresses; share the copy of SI Swim suit edition, how to convince wife to get the new 4K 70inch TV, where the best deals are on the 18 years scotch.

Why do majority of women refuse to share this information (or the copy of swimsuit edition)? It could be useful to others.

I am talking about majority (not all)....there are some weirdos who talk about real-estate prices, stocks and even worse --- school districts and college admissions....
