Phoenix to Bangalore - Only few carton boxes and a TV- need advise

Post by shankar1242 »

hello - We are planning to relocate to Bangalore by the 2nd or 3rd week of July. It won't be a big supply of goods that I have it to ship. But, I have few personal attached items around 3 to 4 cartons and a TV that I wanted to Ship them to Bangalore. I don't have any idea about the shipping process and cost related matters for shipping from US to India.

Pl guide me for the following questions:

Can any one suggest how does it works out ?

What is the use of a share container and it's benefits?

What would be the cost benefits with TV and without TV ?

What are the best shipping companies available in Phoenix or near by cities?

We relocated two years back with the same situation (minus the TV though - since my TV would not work here without a PAL/NTSC converter). I basically, packed most of the stuff in Samsonite Tote-a-ton bags (they weigh less than a pound and so we could pack the full 50lbs per bag). I also left a couple of bags with my friends who have brought them back over the past two years as they travel to India.

For your load, containers won't be cost effective. Bring them along with you, optimize the weight.
For the TV, some airlines have flat $150 as the shipping cost. If that works, use that option.

All the best! Bangalore weather is pleasant again!
