health insurance for family visiting from India

For an Indian based family with no pre existing condition visiting US & Canada for a month, which is better? A US based visitor health insurance or India based foreign travel insurance? Also does anyone know of specific insurance plans for this case? Any experience of really making the claim in case of hospitalization? Long back I took a foreign travel insurance from India but that had several loopholes and in the end I could not claim a penny.
