I am looking for a job to R2i to Bangalore. I have over 13 yrs of experience and looking for Senior roles in Engineering Management. I have been trying for the last 2 months, but things seem to be moving bit slowly. I have tried the regular routes - recruiters, internal referals through friends, job sites etc.
I am considering going to India for a month and trying it out from there and see if it speeds things up. Any opinions on whether it is worth doing so and would it really help being there physically ?
Does being in India for a few weeks help speed up r2i job search ?

What's your situation here back in US? Are you currently working or out of job? If currently working the how long do you think you can take leave from current employer and look for job in Bangalore? If out of job then you can go to Bangaloe ASAPad then start applying for jobs. If currently working and have 100% sure of going back to India then give enough notice to your current employer and return.
On a side note, job market in India seems to be picking up, our India office had some attrition (junior to senior level developers 2 - 7 yrs exp) which means people are actively looking for a change and are successful in getting one. So if you return now chances are that you may be lucky to get some thing. May take 4-8 weeks though!

Job market is good for 3-7 years of experience. That is where the attrition and the demand is. Not for senior roles. With 10+ years of experience, there aren't that many jobs. But the situation is better than 2008

Job market is also good in USA for 2-7 years of exp. Wonder where the IT industry is going. The senior folks are facing hard time everywhere.

It's very true.... It's a pyramid structure in many IT companies, at low level there is requirements for large number of resources so demand is high however as you get more and more experience it becomes tougher to get appropriate positions in any company due to pyramid structure. But there are openings for senior or experienced people as well in India, going through good recruiter should help.
