OCI Doctor - MCI registration

Hi

My wife is a doctor (with MBBS and PG degree from India), and we have taken OCI (Overseas citizenship of India).

We are planning to move back to India, and could not find clear rules for OCI doctors on MCIs website.

Can anybody who has gone through the similar experience provide us with more info.

Can a doctor with OCI get permanent registration with MCI on te basis of Indian degrees??

Your wife has degrees from India she can register with the MCI- both UG/PG). OCI should not be an issue. She might not be able to work in govt service, though.

We understand about govt jobs as that clearly mentioned in OCI details.

But on MCIs website, they have mentioned "Indian Citizen" in the relevant medical act, and I read about a case of canadian dentist not allowed to work. Havent seen anything about OCI on MCIs website.

If you dont mind, can I ask if you have gone through the similar situation. I mean.... are you an OCI doctor who has moved back to India?

Sumanchechi, & other Docs,

How does this issue impact Dentists? Can an OCI Dentist, who has a BDS degree in India and DDS degree in USA allowed to practice ? Can the registration with MCI be done online?

I think the candaian Dentist issue was that she never held an Indian Dental degree, and was never registered with MCI. Is this correct?
