"Good" salary for live-in maid

What would be a "good" salary for a live in maid in Bangalore? By good, I mean that I want to pay on the higher side so that the maid is happy and chooses to stay on. The maid would be doing a little bit of cooking, bit of childcare, and a bit of light housework ( but no sweeping or swabbing). Also, what is the general policy on holidays?

I think 'good' salary would be in the 4500 - 6000 range. I dont have personal experience but relating what a friend pays for a live-in maid.

Hi, I will R2I to Bangalore around Oct, expecting to live in the Koramangala area.. What would be the best way to find a full time maid? Don't want a live-in, more like morn to evening..

Around 1000-1500 per month. It's usually Rs 500-600 for every task like dish washing, sweep/mop the floor. They'll come one time every day and complete the task in 1 hour. Usually everyone has a washer/dryer these days for washing clothes.

If you live in an apt. complex, you'll find several maids working there. So your neighbour can give you the going rate in the complex.
