Short term broadband and phone options

Hi Folks,
I am visiting Bangalore for 6 weeks and planning to work from there part time during the stay. I do have the option to walk into my employer facility anytime and work from there.

However, I am looking to have a setup at my parents place to have a broadband connection and a dedicated phone (may be PC phone). My parents don't have internet connection at home currently.

Can you suggest what options do I have that you feel would be a practical solution for six weeks to have a broadband connection? Please share the cost information too if you know. Thanks in advance.

Reliance Mobile broadband worked well for me in Bangalore. But outside of that place in Tier 2,3 cities, the speed was terribly low. The initial cost was Rs 2299/- and they have different tariff plans.

For mobile, you get lot of prepaid phone options. I used Airtel and it worked well.

I went with their post paid plan (as that seemed to be requirement for getting into that contract) and then converted it into a post paid plan on last day visiting one of their stores (can't be done online).

However, if you plan to use it outside of bangalore , be sure to check if that will give enough speed. I could not use it much outside bangalore. It used to download like 6MB in one hour. In Bangalore it was fine. In fact I was able to use it in Car while travelling within bangalore and thereby save some time.
