Hi All,
Have been reading this forum for a long time now - occasional posts (mostly seeking help).
Just thought this might be a useful thread - after seeing one in the Chennai threads.
I have tried to gather some information, others can please add. Would be useful to me and hopefully to many others like me looking here.
Kitchen Woodwork - Cabinets (Mind you all my research has been on the web - no actual visiting the stores yet)
Cookscape - www.cookscape.com in Koramangala, Jayanagar and R.T Nagar (web site has some good samples - but not sure how it looks in reality)
Hitech interiors - http://hitech-interiors.com/ on Infantry Road (have some impressive pictures)
Venete Cucina - http://www.ccindia.net/ in Indiranagar, Jayanagar and Sadashivanagar (very nice pictures, they even have a lLink for estimating what it will cost based on your selections - although that link was not working when I checked).
DJ Interiors - www.djinterior.com (they do furnitures and kitchen. Their website has some good pictures, and some look really tacky. But I guess that is what the customer chose. Seems like one of those where you design your own - unlike cookscape etc. where they have design and suggestions for you).
Open Plan Office Systems (yes they do kitchens as per their ads) - no web site, in Horamavu - + (91)-(80)-25661353 / 65361297
Alfa Enterprises -no web site or phone number found , B. T. C., 88/2, Chikka Begur Gate , Off Hosur Road, Bangalore, 560 068
Classy Kitchen Gallery - no web site or phone number found, No. 77, R. V. Road, Basavanagudi, Bangalore, 560 004
Sumitra Enterprises - no web site or phone number found, Shop No.15, BDA Commercial Complex HSR Layout, Bangalore, 560 034
Aishwary Enterprises - no web site or phone number found, Opposite I. C. I. C. I Bank, Hsr Layout 1st, Bangalore, 560 034
If any one has used any of the above, please post your experience, recommendations and contact information.
Will update as I get more information, but would appreciate if folks can post more info - such as carpenters and design your own options they might have done. Would be nice to get some samples and contact info.

Wood or UPVC for Windows?
Can folks please post any information on comparisons between wood and UPVC you all have done.
1. Cost wise, which is better.
2. Design and aesthetics - I know with wood we can make our own designs, while the design possibilities are slightly limited with UPVC windows.
3. Maintenance in the long run. I have seen some homes in India where the windows and doors look really old (even though the house itself is fairly new), this is due to the exposure to weather. How can that be avoided if we use wood for windows / frames.
4. Efficiency - which is more energy efficient (not that it would matter too much for Bengaluru climate - we probably will not need to use AC that much). Still would be good to know.
If you have chosen wood for windows - what type of wood did you use and approximately what is the cost of it per unit.
If you chose UPVC - what manufacturer did you go with and approximate cost (per unit). (I guess the unit is per sq. foot?)
would greatly appreciate this information.

Not sure in which thread to post this. But I have been searching on the web for information on UPVC windows (before we make our decision on whether to get UPVC or wood ). Anyways, most of the threads here talked mostly on Fenesta. I did a quick search on that and found a lot of complaints about installation and after sales service issues with them.
During that search I did find another site that might be useful to folks here - http://www.uwdmaindia.org/ (UPVC window and Door manufacturers association). Basically you can find links to most UPVC manufacturers in India.
I was hoping this organisation would provide unbiased info on what is good and maybe which ones are better, but it includes most manufactures, so there goes the "unbiased" aspect of any information you get from here. But you do find links to many options (in addition to Fenesta).
Here are some options -
http://www.yashpolyprofiles.com/product1.htm
http://www.plasopan.com/pvc/doors.html
http://www.europlast.in/products.html
http://www.plasowin.com/
http://www.fenesta.com/
http://www.aluplastindia.com/
http://www.windowmagicindia.com/window.htm
http://www.veka.in
http://www.saraelgi-infinity.com
http://www.ritikaa.com
http://www.whwintech.com
http://www.rehau.com
http://www.lingelwindow.com
http://www.lgupvc.com
http://www.alumak.com
http://www.aparnaenterprisesltd.com/upvc.html
As you can see there is plenty of competition and hence many options for us customers.

I used JSK interiors to do the work and I am happy with the job done. They did kitchen cabinets, closets, TV stand, a staircase and few others. They are at http://thejsk.co.nr/ .
