Helping Japan - What\'s the Best Route??

Dear Friends -

We all are saddened by the horrible events that happened (happening) in Japan and our deepest condolence goes to all Japanese/expatriates. It's Japan's worst tragedy with Tsunami following by earthquakes following by nuclear power plant blasts and there is no word to describe the horrendous apathy that is prevailing in Japan.

Japan as a country comprise of hard working people and after the nuclear blasts that occured in 1942, the country raised to the occassion where everyone worked so hard with unity that they became 2nd largest economy in the world (At present chinese took the tag). Their superior Cars/Electronics/Robots speak high of them in various industries such as Manufacturing, Automobile, Aviation, Infrastructure and High-Tech Industries including Robotics. We are sure that Japan will arise again and will continue to do well and will have a bright future:emrose:

Can we discuss how to help Japan now which will reach the affected people fast so that they receive the benefits in shortest possible of time? Leading organization such as Japanese Red Cross is doing fine but with bureacracy/red-tape, I am not sure whether timely help will reach the affected people. Please list any reliable organization where our donations will reach fast and they are more accountable and transparent in their dealings.

I donate to Shelter Box. I find them practical and useful as first responders.

The shelter box also assigns a # to the donor which also goes on the box itself so that the donor will know who is the beneficiary.
I was watching news where they showed a small instrument and if one drinks water through that, there wouldn't be any fear of water contamination. This is handy in scenarios like Tsunami.

iShares ticker EWJ covers Japan. It may be a good way to invest in Japan to support their companies that will be doing the rebuild plus earn a decent return once the panic subsides. Japan isn't going anywhere. They are very resourceful.
