It seems modus operandi of the kidnappers seem to be to isolate people with IT background and young kids in sparsely populated complexes. Safety and security is becoming a big issue in big cities now Hyderabad joins the list of Bangalore and Delhi-NCR to experience this.

HYDERABAD: A software couple's three-and-a-half-year-old son, Rohit Reddy, was kidnapped from Kondapur on Tuesday at 4.30 pm by three men while he was playing with his brother and friends near his house. While the family was yet to receive a ransom call till late in the night, police said they believed that the boy was kidnapped for ransom. This is the second kidnapping involving IT industry in the past two months, with this case coming from the IT hub itself.
Rohit's father is G Ravinder Reddy, assistant project manager with Cognizant, and mother is Lalasa Reddy, project leader with Satyam. Rohit was playing in the premises of Sanskruti Vidya Mandir, barely 200 yards from his residence. The kidnappers came there in a black Qualis. While one of them entered the school and made Rohit sit on the parapet wall ? about three feet high ? another picked the boy and put him in the Qualis and the gang fled.
Rohit was with his elder brother, 8-year-old Praneet, and five other children from the building he lives in. Praneet told TOI that the abductors waited for 10-15 minutes outside and one of them entered the school only after the 'ayah' who was with the children left. The abductor greeted the children with a "hi" but within minutes he kidnapped Rohit and fled. The children shouted for help and ran back to their apartment to inform their parents, who in turn alerted the police.
The parents said that the boy was running a temperature. His inconsolable father was worried for Rohit's health as the boy was prone to fits if medicines were not administered on time.
As both the parents work, there was no one at home at the time of the incident. The family has a cook who stays home everyday, but had gone out on Tuesday. Rohit was in the habit of playing with his friends in the school premises every evening and did so even on Tuesday, which was a holiday on account of Janmashtami. The house and the school are in an isolated area.
The Reddys live in Golden Tulip estate, Raghavendra Colony, Kondapur, in a building they constructed with five other friends. The three-floor building they live in, Parvati Nilayam, comprises six flats, each owned by people known to the family.
The Reddys live on the ground floor. Ravinder Reddy, who hails from Kurnool, was in the US and returned about a couple of years ago. His wife, Lalasa, hails from Chitoor district.
Rajendranagar assistant commissioner of police K Mahipal Reddy said police have alerted all stations and control rooms.

From what I get from the news reports on the kidnapping:
-Both parents are working
-2 Kids , one 8 and one 4 are playing outside their home in the evening .... with parents at work I guess. Who was the adult looking after them ?
-The boy kidnapped had a temperature ... then why was he playing and why were one of the parents not with him.
Parents as much to blame, as the law & order.

tweedledee - you comment is in extremely cheap and in bad taste. how would you feel if this happens to you. And what is wrong if people are discussing which TV is better. Do you not have a TV? are you trying to crack a joke, the joke could well be on you when a loonie in the US knocks at your doorstep with a gun. such things can happen anywhere.

Sad but true.
If you read it closely, you may get different opinion about the health of the kid.
She might be the culprit for that since she is working in IT.
Raising the kids is not that easy. These working women think that their job is to just give birth and some one ( care taker or some god) would take care of raising, while they are concentrating on some nonsense similar to career.

Dude that is bull-shit. What is so different between man and woman w.r.t career ? A man thinks its a woman's job to take care of kids 'coz he does not have the guts to admit that he is lazy and cannot do the job.
I've married for quite a while now and I think my wife's career is as important to me as it is to her. I have to give space to her to grow. Feeding the kids and changing their clothes is NOT the only thing that gives personal satisfaction to a human being. One has to treat a woman as a human being with her own aspirations in life and a woman later.
And what do you mean by "nonsense similar to career" ? You think a woman who is a architect designing some complex SoC (System on Chip) for the iPhone group at Apple is doing nonsense and the dude who is doing Java programming at a desi bodyshopping company is doing some great thing that will benefit the world at large ?
Child raising is not just a woman's job. As long as we keep thinking that way, we will never give them the freedom to grow as human beings.
