Bangalore schools

We are planning to R2I next summer before the school year begins. Our son will turn 5 this Nov. We have no contacts in Bangalore nor can we visit there earlier than our R2I date. What are our options? Can we look for admission into KG after we get there? Is admission into a good school possible for 1st grade even if we have to do with a mediocre school for KG? We are not interested in "international" schools. We have heard good things about NPS.

We are R2I in 2012 as well from the same area as yours and to Bangalore..I have 2 kids (older tho'). We had similar concerns but looks like schools are very open to the idea of admitting NRI kids. They do understand the difficulty in traveling during mid school yr..etc. Talk to them and tell them your situation. Lot of schools also take kids in the middle of the school yr. There are a lot of good school options like NPS,DPS, Vibgyor, Kumarans (all of these have taken NRI kids,I hear!) Good luck!

I have tried this personally last year even though we didn't end up returning. I had got admission for mine in NPS but only after taking their application forms and returning them on time,going there for the interview on the date they give (not negotiable) etc. For higher grades. they are very strict about kids taking entrance test in the date they have given.This is my experience.

NPS won't budge not even a little for changing entrance test dates and test is needed from 1st grade onwards I believe.

But DPS east was flexible with the entrance test dates but they gave admission only after attending the tests:-). These are the only two schools that I am aware of personally.
