Ways to transfer money from USA to India, from India

Hi,

I've been using remit2india online ACH to transfer funds in small chunks from USA bank to my Indian bank. Looks like I've exhausted the limit to transfer funds for this month and remit2india is not allowing me to do any more ACH transfers. They asked me to use Wire. For wire transfer both remit2india and money2india require that I take the print out of the remittance and hand it over to my American bank to do the wire. Since I am not in USA, I cannot hand over the physical copy for a wire to the American bank.

I tried other options like xoom.com etc, but they have a limit of $2500 only. money2india has a limit of $7500 on ACH. I need to get about $30K transferred. Is there any other way to do it?

What's the monthly limit with Remit2India? Few years back I transferred over 40K through them for a real estate transaction. Has this changed now?

I think they have a limit of USD 40k

well you can always ask your friend who will accept it in USD and then have his relatives in india hand over the rupees to you in india. But then this will be "hawala " transaction.

I use money2India. SBI (onlinesbi.com), HDFC quick remit. with ACH, i dont think any of these will allow 30K at once. you will have to place multiple transactions and your rate may nto be as good comparing with sending 30K at once. HDFC QR has 25K limit and they will enhance for HDFC customers.
SBI and M2I do not have limits i think. SBI allows 5K for non-SBI accounts and may be 7.5K or 10K for SBI accounts.

CBI (Central bank of India) also remitting service but not used. Had problem with their online registration twice.

You can do a online wire transfer from your US bank directly to the Indian bank - they will probably ask you to call and verify the wire.
