:( There are reports of multiple blasts in Mumbai this evening.

One explosion has reportedly taken place behind a temple in Dadar in a car. There is another blast near the Opera House in South Mumbai and a third being reported from Zaveri Bazaar.

Phones are jammed and lots of conflicting info floating around. Even Colaba is being reported as the 4th blast. Some estimates at this hour (7.30 PM IST), are even talking about 200+ injured.

Let's hope its not SIMI's celebration that their lawyer is now India's law minister.

Latest reports are saying that some 20 people may be dead. The number is not confirmed. This is not good.

I have a few numbers in case any of your friends/relatives are stuck near the blast places. They can stay in one of these contact's homes tonight.

Please keep phone calls to minimum as emergency calls need the bandwidth.

  • So far 10 dead and 50+ injured in hospitals per the Home Minister of India. Numbers may go up.
  • One of the blast happened close to the place where Ajmal Kasab was captured.
  • Initial observation points to heavy Gujarati areas and Diamond merchants/streets. Again!

Here is a very useful spreadsheet. Over 175 contacts who have offered help in various parts of Mumbai. The list is growing as you read this. Feel free to circulate these via SMS or emails, if you know folks in Mumbai who need help right now. It also has Twitter handles of those who have offered help. Please use them sensibly when needed, respecting their intention as well as only if there's an emergency.

I am just overwhelmed at the helping nature of people on social networks, on top of blood offers & physical help on the street. Mumbai rocks! (in a good way).

May be member KirKS should consider removing teh reference to the minister.

KirKS, we know you are a well meaning guy, but do consider editing your OP.
