A friend forwarded a video of a marriage proposal in California.
Pretty cool:

Anything in your life that is worth remembering and sharing in here in your marriage proposal?

Same here...aint me the lucky most! I remember the proposals of others other than that of my spouse actually. Most of the Americans always have exciting stories of their marriage proposal and they talk about it at lengths. Wish Indians had it the same way.
Watch the vidoe. The emotions of the bride were amazing!

Marriage Proposal
Nobody has any incident worth remembering their marriage proposals? It doesn't have to be with the one you got married. Could be anything:
Alright I will go first:
I did my intership in a company in South Bombay (SoBo). Everymorning I used to take a particular Churchgate local train and being a big mouth got friendly with ladies gang who used take the same train for last 10 years or so. They would keep the seats reserved for their friends getting in at different stations. Being younger than the crowd I would always relinquised my seat for them. One particular lady used to chat with me a lot asking questions about me/my college/my family. Few weeks later she talked about her family and her son in US, his work blah blah blah. I showd interest in her US talks as any 20 year old would do hearing about foreign land (not so much in her son and also I had applied for my masters in US universities). Most of the ladies had each others numbers so I had hers and she had mine.
Few months later, my dad asked if I knew a particular Mrs. X. I said yes and that she is my train friend. Dad added that she has contacted them with her son's proposal for me. Aghast I was and I felt sorry and embarrased myself as I never had mentioned about my guy who was then working himself in Mumbai. My dad left it to me to convery it to her. I met her in train later and profusely said Sorry for not letting her know. I mean she was a stranger to me...a train friend of last 3-4 months. I had no idea of any of her hinting about her son. Well who knowns ther son would had some GF in US which she had no idea about. Those thoughts made me felt better then. But I still remember that incident very well.
later I Left for US myself and we ceased to be in touch. I never ever travelled in that train again....never had a chance

Marriage Proposal
My first job was away from home in a different city. Four of us rented a house to stay. Father's friend's son lived there. Almost family. During child hood, our familied used to have at least one picnic every month and some other evenings as well. He was married at the time and I would very often go to their house in the evenings. His wife, a very charming lady, I would addressas bhabhi, even took me to their home once I fell sick and took care of me for a week.
Her younger sister came across for a holiday and we ofcourse we spent some time together. Off and on, Bhabhi would ask me about my marriage plans, which I replied were not in sight. Then some six months later, I told Bhabhi about my plans to get engaged shortly. She was annoyed with me for leading her astray earlier, as she had postponed her plans to speak to my mother about her sister. Not truly a proposal but almost.
Another offer, I learnt after my marriage. An aunt of my father had brought a proposal of the only daughter of a topmost officer of a very large Industrial house, promising a huge dowry and ofcourse offer of a job with huge salary and very very fast track in the organisation. My mother did not even consider it and never informed me. Sometimes when I used to complain about my keeping our marriage and job together, DW would taunt me saying that I should complain to my mother for not accepting that offer.

Marriage Proposal
no such luck for me all proposals ended in the 1st 5 min of talking to me. the usual question was" what do you want to do after finsh med school?" my answer would wary from "civil services" to "I ll join the army"..so they would then look at my dad with a tsk tsk look.
Once i got a US citizen match. I went to the see the girl, ate loads of chicken kababs and picked my teeth. I dint know then you dont pick your teeth in public like showing your teeth in full view( now who makes these manners, its ok to kiss strangers but not ok to pick teeth), she thought I was very ganwar( you know villaze types), she was a hottie though.
for a long time everyone thought I was going to become a baba ramdev of the house....unmarried walking around in the house with a beard, making up all sorts of crazy unbelievable stuff.

As soon as I read this, I couldn't resist thinking about Mastan Bhai, his green card thread and the spoon pic :)
BTW that's one great way to say "I do" over a dinner proposal, by holding a spoon and raising it over the head. But if the girl raises a fork with a piece of steak stuck to it, that could mean some thing else like "You're dead meat" :)
Marriage Proposal
I thought thread was about proposals that ended in marriage. :)
Once upon a time, I used to take an autorickshaw every morning to the same place. Someone used to follow it. On a motorbike. The autorickshaw and motorbike used to stop at traffic lights. One day I received a proposal, at one such traffic light. :) As the light changed to green, I declined the proposal and slid to the other end of the autorickshaw seat. :)
Later, he turned out to be a friend of a friend, and even more later, I heard his heart mended soon and he went on to get married and last I heard was busy with the happily ever after.
