Constant need to take selfies from your phone. Even if you are in middle of something and even if the task is not yet "done". :angry: :emcrook:

lol:) By the way, this 'selfie everywhere' is not limited to Amreeka...could happen anywhere...say in India too:)

What annoys me:

1. This economy
2. Education system
3. Taxes
4. This country can be greedy at times. They make a business out of everything w/o really caring at times.
5. Depending on the region, some Americans are pretty ignorant when it comes to interacting with other people and cultures and make assumptions w/o even asking. Then when you point out something that seems out of the norm, they act amazed like some miracle happened ! Because I am of Indian origin, people assume right away that I'm Hindu and I have been asked questions like "So you worship cows?", and then when I mention I'm Christian they jump saying "Oh you're Christian ! I never knew there were Indian Christians, though all of them were HIndus !" (eyeroll). However those who live in more diverse areas know better..thankfully.

I haven't gone through the entire thread so I am not sure if this is mentioned earlier. But what annoys me in the US are the food portions. I live in London but frequent US for work every now and then. The food portions are massive no matter where you go. This is bad because 1. I was taught to finish my plate and this is just not possible in the US and 2. All that obesity. Only last month we visited Peter Luger's in brooklyn and they served me a steak big enough for my entire trip. I did finish the steak in just under an hour but don't think this is particularly healthy. Of course, you'll say what about self control - I'd rather not get into that.

This is just a problem for visitors. The natives are allowed to take a doggy-bag home, even when there is no doggy at home. Slices of medium-rare beef steak can spawn several nice stir-fry dishes for the next day, the day after and more. The good wife always trains her man to go out with his colleagues, and when the dinner is on the company's dime, order a good sized steak "medium rare" and then, get (almost) the whole thing home to share with the family the next day. A good hunter-gatherer has to do this.

True. The lunch fare is not complete without a 'pack the leftovers to go' along with carry bag as well. There are restaurants that have smaller/healthy size portions on the menu.

I don't know. It's just something that puts me off. The lesser said the better about US' near perverse relationship with food so I am not going to get into debate on that topic. Yes the healthy options do exist but they are an exception rather than a rule as opposed to europe. What one cannot deny is the gluttony on display in majority of american establishments - what with the 72oz steak eating contests and all. I love a lot of things about the US but this is not one of those.
