We will relocate to Atlanta, GA as I will join a company in Smryna. What are the safe areas to live close to work location?
Initially, we will live in an apt. Besides safety, close proximity to work, we want to be close to a good school. The great schools web site, gives the following schools:
East Side Elementary School
Marietta Center for Advanced Academics
Sope Creek Elementary School
Mount Bethel Elementary School
Given the above,
Any idea on areas to focus on such Marietta, East Cobb?
Any input on those schools?

If I remember right, there is a Post Apts., (a gated community) in Cobb Pkwy which I think is good.

I don't have any personal information about that place, but it looks like it requires a lot of renovations/repairs.
But then only those with complaints usually put in their reviews. It might be good if you visit and talk to some of the residents before deciding that place.

Not sure if you still looking for an apt but here is what I know. If you are planning on living in Marietta, you might consider powers ferry road which is parallel to Cobb pkwy. There are a lot of gated apt complexes because of several IT companies on that stretch. Infact, recently I met some folks working for GE who live walking distance from their workspot. Another location you may consider is Terrel Mill road or Delk Road. Traffic may not be as bad there coming out from your apt as Cobb pkwy. I dont remember community names offhand as it has been a while since I visited that area.

Thanks. I visited the apt, and found it to located on a hill-station i.e. it is on the banks of chattahoochee river. With so much slope, I don't expect my sons enjoy outdoors there.

Thanks. I drove by those apartments, and they look good from outside. Since I am looking for apts served by those schools, I keep this area in the back burner. Thanks for the pointers.

Not sure you are still looking for apartment or not. But East Cobb has some of the best schools. Check out following document for school information in Georgia and you will find top schools in Cobb county. Not sure about apartments for these school districts.
