How Old will you be when you retire ?

Interesting poll...

I plan to work until I can; and I need to and; I enjoy it.

At present, I think I might still be enjoying work past 65yrs of age... Not because I would need to (hopefully), but simply because I'd enjoy operating a business venture, which is what I hope to be doing!

I'll work if "my work" entails making others work in the most effective as well as efficient way, i.e. managing people and/or operations. That's what I enjoy the most.

OP, d'you have any such openings in BLR for me? ;)

Poll was started after seeing the other poll on "how much you need before you r2i".

I figured its good to know when one plans to retire :)

I think a lot of people have in mind to "retire" or "semi-retire" when they plan to go back (atleast based on the high numbers $$)

I hope they are not thinking "semi-retire" while voting. That would not give a correct picture...

IMO those who completely retire before 50 will get terribly bored, unless they have tons of moolah w/ which they can keep themselves busy - pursuing hobbies/interests.

I'm assuming that most people participating in this poll/forum are driven, accomplished, educated and intellectual than the average citizen. Can they really just sit around?

In reality, less than 1% of those who vote for anything less than 50 will probably stay *completely* retired, even if they could afford it.

I can never see myself retiring completely. That would be too boring and I will probably die within a few years of retirement because of the void it will create in my life.

I may not work for someone else all my life, but work I will. At some point, I hope I can generate enough income on my own so that I can be the employer and not the employee. Easier said than done, but working on it.

For a while it looked like I was the only one who voted for above 65. Now I am happy seeing 4 votes.:)

I wish to work as long as my health permits. That is one of the reason why I like to be a businessman than work for someone. There is no retirement in business. JRD worked way past 80 and Buffett is still going strong after 70+. I may not want to work 40 hrs a week but cut it down to 20 - 30hrs. Low stress and low income is ok - just need something to keep me away from r2iClub!:emsad:

Admins,

The poll should define 'retire' meaning. A lot of folks looks towards retirement as follows:

1. The need to work daily -- aka financial retirement.
2. Semi Retire - Work for time pass + some monetary benefit
3. Truly retire... Sit in the park, or take care of grand kids....

If the definition is explained, the results might be meaningful.

Retire -- I think what we are saying is do anything you want. But your motivation is not money.

Work -- Generally do what pays you more for your fav skills.

Me, soon want to retire and do few things which I am very interested and I am sure my interests are more than enough to consume rest of my lifetime

A great man once said about his two regrets in life, ?So much more to do, So less time?
