If someone decides to quit the current job and find a new one, it can take one month or even more. Is there a cheap private medical insurance that someone can consider in the interim period.

Unicare is very popular among people that buy their own insurance. It's not available in all states though.

If your company offers COBRA, ask for pricing information. Under COBRA, you have up to 60 days to elect coverage. This gives you coverage for 60 days after termination without actually having to pay premiums. Note that premiums are due retroactively if you opt for coverage.

Other options you can look at can include supplemental health insurance, catastrophic/ major illness coverage only, etc. Talk to an agent about what low cost alternatives are available to you.
