UAE Visit Visa - layover time

Post by appanna »

Hello Members,
We are planning to visit India and flying via Dubai with a layover of 13 hours. We want to visit Dubai during layover time. Myself, wife and daughter are INC's with GC and son is USC. I believe INC's with US GC or US Visa holders can get visit visa on arrival at the Dubai airport with a validity of 14 days. I have the following questions:

1. Is it a easy process and how long it takes to get the visitor visa?
2. Is the Visa stamped on passport?
3. Do we need to give copy of the Indian passport and GC to immigration officer?
4. What is the mode of payment for the Visa?
5. Overall how easy or difficult is the whole process?
6. Where to keep the carry bags while travelling in Dubai?

If anyone have done this, please share your experience of visiting Dubai during layover time.

Thanks,
Appanna

This blog has chronicled all info. with even pictures.

Process is easy but my concern would be time ( you need to deduct 90 mins each way for all the formalities, so leaving only 10 hrs for the sight seeing) and month/time of your layover. If it is night, you may not be able to cover much and if day time, Dubai temperatures in Apr-July usually average around 105 F. If your schedule allows, then you can cover 4-5 tourist spots in 10 hrs. Burj Khalifa tours need to be booked weeks in advance.

I did this a couple of years ago. The visa process is pretty straightforward at the Airport. I enjoyed going around Dubai but it?s just a concrete jungle. No different from any other large city.

We had just one. So it was easy to lug it around.
