Heathrow transit visa?

Will be travelling on Advance Parole from USA -> Heathrow -> India .
Do I need to take any Transit visa for UK?

That link shows , exemption list and one among is if "A diplomatic or official passport issued by India."

mean , if i have Indian passport then its exempted?

Diplomatic/Official PP is for diplomats and ministers and other Govt officials, not the ordinary PP for ordinary people like you and me.

If you still have valid visa for US, then you should be fine. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/doineedvisa/visadatvnationals
Not sure about AP, without valid visa.

You need transit visa - this is based on information / experience in March 2010

Hi, I'm looking at the link 'Transit without visa' concession -- DATV exemptions on the bottom of this page: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/customs-travel/transitthroughtheuk/visa-transit-airside/# and was wondering if anyone here had invoked the following clause to transit via UK, without a transit visa.

Additionally, you (or a person with whom you arrive in the UK) must hold:

1) a valid entry visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, and a valid airline ticket for travel via the UK, as part of a journey to or from one of those countries;

My wife and I will be R2I-ing this month end via London. My H1B visa stamp (on passport) expires early Jan 2012. My wife currently doesn't have a valid US visa stamp on her passport.

Would both of us be able to transit via UK to India, without a transit visa? Thanks.

Check with the UK embassy to confirm your wife can tag along fine. It's not the UK govt but It's the airline which may prevent you from boarding.

IMO, you should have no problem. Your wife won't be allowed to board the plane.

I was in a similar situation, several years ago and was forced to rescheduled my travel plans.

UK embassy has outsourced these enquiries to WorldBridgeservice.com, who charge $3/min to take calls. Have e-mailed WB; let's see if they respond. British Airways wouldn't comment / advise passengers re: visa issues anymore.

Sure enough, WB e-mailed back to say they don't advise / comment on individuals' visa requirements. (Who else would or could, huh?). I'm getting the transit visa for my wife alone, even though the UK Border Agency site suggests that she doesn't need one. Can't take chances with the airline people, while boarding!

Citizens of certain countries, like South Africa, require visas to enter the UK and in most cases to travel through a UK airport to another country. The transit visa is a slightly cheaper visa which allows the holder the opportunity to pass through the UK but not to enter Britain for any purpose other than to transit through it. Officially you are allowed to travel between Gatwick and Heathrow without a visa, provided the above rules are met, and we do know of people who have successfully done this. But getting a direct answer out of the High Commission is very difficult.

I am an Indian Citizen traveling to Canada with a student visa via London HEATHROW airport. I have an 8 hours waiting time at the airport and need to change from terminal 4 to terminal 3. Do I need a transit visa ?
