Has there been any post about resources for gifted children- like we have in the US?
Please direct me to the thread if this has been discussed before. If not, please share any resources you may have come across. Most schools in India do not recognize the potential in gifted children and it is frustrating to see that they are made to follow the same curriculum as everyone else in their class. I would like to gather information about available resources for such children which are reasonably priced. I know of the epgy program from Stanford, but it is expensive for Indian standards. Any inputs are highly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Double promotion is one "resource" that comes to mind.
I have looked into the Stanford EPGY courses offered at the elementary school level. These are only in Mathematics and English. The detailed course descriptions, course demos and exercises seem to be a mirror image of the grade level textbooks, and there appeared to be nothing special about them other than the courses being offered "online". Had the opportunity to enroll kid in them almost free of cost over summer vacation and opted not to.
Maybe The Brainplex will be interested in listening to what parents of gifted children are looking for and provide those in Indian cities.

Almost free. $135 for 10 months. through the school open enrollment program. If your school is not already in it, enrolling is fairly straight-forward. Check the FAQ. Being the SSA (School Support Associate) for the program is not a big deal or commitment.
If interested in only the Math course, check out this option.
The content of the courses offered in both the above are exactly the same as those in the $495 courses, except that there is no instructor help. That is anyway not needed as parent can easily help child when he is stuck.
Some children might sometimes find some parts of the courses a little too easy.

MV, You also mentioned in other post that your kid has taken CTY online courses. Did you pay full fee or is there any sort of discount through some other program like Standford EPGY?
Gifted Children Resources
Full fee. Those were courses on specific fiction books (3 in each course) in the Young Readers series, and worth it.

The Gifted Talented Math from beestar is great, full of all real life world problems, challenging stuff to help kids thinking. My 5 grader has been using it. She is now one of the A students in her class. Beestar helps her make remarkable progress. Pretty cool.
