The grand niece is hiding in the room with no lights. My task is to entice her out.
I open the door and stand there with light from the hall falling on me.
She laughs out loud and says - "baba, you are like earth."
Me - "Earth! why?"
Niece - "Half lighted and half dark."

My kids were playing house-house or mommy-daddy. After a half hour of no calls to me to intervene, I went to check out this unusual event. I overheard them basically telling each other a series of, "I'll tell you this, then you tell this, OK?" which got a response of "OK". Like:
I'll say "Can you put out the garbage? You say yes, OK?"
I'll say "Is it time to wake up? You say yes"
I'll say "...., then you say...".
After a few minutes, I was this close to telling them, "be normal, will you?" : )
Like they say, "out of the mouth of babes". Indeed, they could teach us so much on getting along.

Yesterday I was calling Indian schools for admissions for my son for coming year. I talked to few schools and got the admission procedure/fees information. After the calls over my son asked which school he will be going in India and how much are the fees. I told him fees range from Rs 40,000 - 60, 0000 for international schools then he said, "Dad Why are we going back to India, schools are FREE here", I was speechless :-)

A couple of days ago, i was getting ready to have my breakfast when my 2.5 year old son holds my hand before i could put the spoon with my cereal on it, in my mouth. He then asks "Did you brush your teeth first, appa?" (in his baby language).
I then realized, i hadn't! (nah! just kidding)

If I were President, I would have lot of homework. I would be busy all day.
I would switch off my alarm and go back to sleep. I would wake up at 7:30 A.M. and take a plane to Chatham Islands. There, I would go dolphin-watching in a boat. I would take pictures of the dolphins. After I come back to the white house, it would be time for dinner. For dinner, I would have ice cream, cake, m-n-m's, lindt candy and yo-go's.
I would be the last one to go to bed because I'm a grown up. My sister would go before me. My parents would sleep after her and before me. I would watch Tom and Jerry till 11 P.M. and then go to sleep.

Asked why Chatham Islands: "New Zealand is on the right most in the map/globe, so it is always tomorrow there first." OK. :) (The international date line is a little bit east of these islands).

I try to put my 19 month old daughter to sleep by pretending that I am also going to sleep along with her . I discourage her from talking by not responding to what she says. Yesterday , when I tried to put her to sleep , she kept talking - I said ( This is how she speaks in broken sentences) 'Amma's eyes closed , amma's mouth closed now you close eyes and close mouth and sleep' . She promptly replied - 'Amma's nose open' . I could not stop laughing.

My two year old was watching Caillou where his father explains that all living things grow old and die.
A few weeks later, we went to India. My two year old saw his grandfather taking his blood pressure medicine and was curious:
Son: What are you eating?
Grandpa: This is my medicine.
Son: Why are you taking medicine?
Grandpa: Because I am old, and old people are not always healthy.
Son: Grandpa, are you going to die?

I think my year old chota bheem is trying to tell me something more than just words...!
hmmmm....surprising that he is choosing words in this sequence amidst all the words we speak to him....! :39:
First he uttered...'amma'...and then forgot that word for a while.
Next he started telling...'thatch' for word 'catch'...
Next word he picked was...'bebe'...
next he picked words like....'dollydollydollydolly'...!

My son, asked my mom who pretended to get angry because he did something naughty, are you mad?
My poor mom thought he was asking her if she had gone crazy. We had to step in to clarify that mad means angry.
