Ideas for elementary Science Projects/Experiments

Post by My Roots »

We finally decided to do working lung(human:) )project.

There are many videos out there in youtube for this project.
Idea is to use empty water bottles and balloon.

Lesson learned:
I found the used water bottles(Bisleri kind) are not strong enough. The kids at school play and push hard and evetually the bottles broken down at class itself. In the evening they had a science fair where kids get to display their work at gym and all parents are invited to watch. When we went there in the evening, the water bottles were already broke. My daughter said that her friends tried to squeeze it many times in the classroom in the morning and evetually it broken down. She didn't had anything for demo in the evening:(
My suggestion is to buy a sturdy one(even if you pay $2 at dollar store/walmart), it is worth spending the money.
For fancy thing, fill the bottle with colored(red) water.

My Roots;263335Let's use this thread to discuss Ideas for elementary science projects/experiments for school science fair or to experiment at home with kids to make them understand better.

From Scientific American -> Now: Bring Science Home Every Week!
At Scientific American, we appreciate the value of a good experiment. So in May, we launched Bring Science Home as a series of free science activities for parents to do together with their six- to 12-year-old kids. We made sure the activities would be fun and easy to do, so families could complete them in an hour or less and usually with items or ingredients they already had around the house. We waited nervously for the results?and were delighted by the warm response. The series was so popular, we decided to make it a regular feature on the Web site on Thursdays. And today, we launch!
susan52;456592I saw this website listed on a good home schooling website and thought I'd mention it in this thread, in case anyone is looking for other kids science experiments....

Thanks for sharing! This is what I am looking for! It looks cool! We are now using beestar for science. There are two worksheets per week. It is perfect to review work at weekend, but I don't think it's enough. Your recommendation is helpful!:p
