Do we need to transfer OCI if you obtain US citizenship?
OCI sticker is no longer needed to travel to India. Just a valid passport and the OCI booklet should suffice. The 'U' sticker has been deemed unnecessary by the govt. of India a couple of years ago.

Is it possible to really clean up India?
I am of the opinion that it is the individual citizen's responsibility to keep a country clean. Governments can play a critical role, but is not entirely their responsibility. It is possible to clean up our communities with a bit of nudging. Whether is it is the 'Pick your doggie doodle, it is your ...

Roth IRA
Yes, it is a 2 step process. You move to a rollover ira first and then do the conversion. I think Congress removed the limit on Roth conversion a few years ago. You can convert as much as you would like as long as you have the funds to meet your tax obligations.

Should the Pope resign?
The resignation of the Pope is not going to do any good in my opinion. The abuse, or some form of it, will continue. A more meaningful action is required. Apologies are good, but that does not solve the problem. The Pope will have to think long and hard about the systemic abuse going on for decades ...

To comprehend my comment, you need to read post #26 first and then 30. [QUOTE=Dwija123;678273]Just out of curiosity, whats wrong in wd40 statement. In most languages logical operators are evaluated left to right. For logical OR if left hand side expression is evaluated to be true than The resulting ...

Lol! I don't mean to be sarcastic, but I sincerely hope that you don't do programming for a living. [QUOTE=wd40;678269]It is an "OR" clause, so just like in programming, when the 1st condition is met, you don't have to look at the remaining conditions. :) Here is the gist of it. If you are 183 days ...

Here's my thought. Why exactly a country would be interested in your global income? To tax you, I suppose. They don't want you to use their infrastructure for free. I personally do not trust the Indian financial systems. Dishonesty is rampant in the Indian society. Every time I visit an Indian bank ...

It is not always as simple as that. Let's assume OP gets all his income from the US. Let's say OP has a few houses in the US, a small business, a multimillion dollar brokerage account, and a multi-mill retirements accounts (roth, 401k, ira etc). Throw in the fact that two country financial years don ...

You seem to be in a solid footing to implement your plans. When you do, you will become an Indian resident in 2-3 years. At that point, you will need to declare your foreign assets and file tax returns in both the countries. Are you comfortable with that? Or do you have a plan to circumvent that ...
